Lifelong Career is a modern web portal that brings together everything you need to maintain and develop your professional career throughout your life. It offers tools and solutions in the field of age management and skills development, enabling individuals, organizations, and employers to respond in a targeted manner to the changing needs of workers at different stages of life and in different situations. In times of turbulent change in the labor market, it is important to adapt working conditions and remove barriers for workers who want to build their careers throughout their lives – whether it is the start of a career, returning from maternity leave, or the active aging phase.
The Lifelong Career concept is implemented by the Sector Councils Alliance (SCA), which is an interest association of legal entities. Its special status and main activities are stipulated in Section 35b of Act No. 5/2004 Coll. on Employment Services and on Amendments and Supplements to Certain Acts, as amended.
The founding members of the SCA are the Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs and Family of the Slovak Republic, the Ministry of Education, Research, Development and Youth of the Slovak Republic, as well as organisations representing the interests of employers – the Federation of Employers’ Associations of the Slovak Republic, the National Union of Employers, the Association of Industrial Employers and Transport, the Association of Towns and Communities of Slovakia, and representatives of trade unions – the Confederation of Trade Unions of the Slovak Republic and the Joint Trade Unions of Slovakia.
SCA focuses on creating a transparent system of occupations and qualifications that supports lifelong learning and helps people better navigate the opportunities for education, development, and participation in the labor market. At the same time, since January 2025, we also perform new responsibilities in the field of education for adults, which were transferred to the SCA from the Ministry of Education, Research, Development and Youth of the Slovak Republic. The new responsibilities of the SCA include the accreditation of educational programmes, the validation of educational achievements and the registration of providers of educational programmes in the field of digital and green skills.
In addition to new responsibilities in the field of adult education, we have also focused on supporting employees in various life situations. Whether it is caring for a close person, raising young children, or gradually transitioning into retirement, our goal is to create working conditions that take individual needs into account.
